The Crusades were a series of incursions made by European Kings to attempt to conquer the lands of Islam. There were riches beyond imagination and it was (and still is) a land of deep religious signifigance. As Saladin once said of the need for victory over the European Crusaders, "It is about nothing and it is about everything."
